Job summary

Blank Street, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Shift Lead to drive smooth daily operations and exceptional hospitality in a fast-paced cafe setting in Washington, DC. You’ll lead on the floor, motivate team members, and ensure top-quality coffee and matcha experiences for guests.

We value strong communication, a love for cafe culture, and the ability to balance speed with guest care. This full-time role supports training, shift leadership, and ongoing store initiatives to grow our customer base.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a customer service leadership role (e.g., Shift Leader, Shift Supervisor).
• Strong knowledge of coffee and/or matcha and hospitality delivery.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass I-9 verification.

Responsibilities

• Craft and serve high-quality coffee and matcha beverages.
• Provide exceptional hospitality to Blank Street customers.
• Assist the GM and train new team members on recipes and store processes.
• Open and close the store, ensuring checklists are followed.
• Address and resolve customer issues as they arise.
• Lead initiatives to increase foot traffic, sales, and profitability.

As a Shift Lead, you’ll play a key role in bringing our mission to life with your team. You’ll lead by example on the floor, ensure smooth operations during your shift, and create an environment where both customers and team members feel valued. What You’ll Own

• Craft beautiful coffee and matcha products
• Provide exceptional hospitality to Blank Street customers
• Support your GM and help train new employees to succeed at Blank Street, including ensuring that new team members are following all recipe on the menu and operational processes in the store
• Open and close the the store safely and responsibly ensuring that all checklists are followed
• Handle and solve customer issues that occur
• Leads and support initiatives at the store level that increase foot traffic, new customers, daily sales, and operational profitability

Requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in a customer service leadership position (e.g. Shift Leader Shift Supervisor, Key Holder), preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverage
• 18+ years of age
• Able to lift 25+ lbs, and to stand for long periods of time
• Availability that meets the needs of our cafes
  
  • Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days per week and must be able to work 2 peak days (peak days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Weekend and holiday availability preferred
• You must be authorized to work in the U.S.: upon acceptance of a job offer and completion of the Form I-9 with acceptable documents, Blank Street will provide the federal government with employees’ Form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. (a process known as ”E-Verify”)
