Job summary

Blank Street in Washington, DC is seeking a Shift Lead to guide daily cafe operations with a hands-on leadership approach. You will focus on delivering exceptional hospitality, guiding the team, and ensuring recipes and procedures are followed on every shift.

As a Shift Lead, you’ll train new team members, open/close the store, and drive store performance through customer satisfaction and efficient operations, while working 30-40 hours per week and supporting peak days.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a customer service leadership position (e.g. Shift Leader, Shift Supervisor, Key Holder) preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverage.
• 18+ years of age.
• Able to lift 25+ lbs and stand for long periods.
• Availability that meets cafe needs (Full Time: 30-40 hours/week, 4-5 days, 2 peak days) and weekend/holiday availability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Craft beautiful coffee and matcha products.
• Provide exceptional hospitality to customers.
• Support the GM and train new employees to follow recipes and store processes.
• Open and close the store safely, ensuring checklists are followed.
• Handle and resolve customer issues.
• Lead and support initiatives to increase foot traffic, daily sales, and profitability.

What You'll Own

• Craft beautiful coffee and matcha products

• Open and close the the store safely and responsibly ensuring that all checklists are followed

• Leads and support initiatives at the store level that increase foot traffic, new customers, daily sales, and operational profitability

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in a customer service leadership position (e.g. Shift Leader Shift Supervisor, Key Holder), preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverage
• 18+ years of age
• Able to lift 25+ lbs, and to stand for long periods of time
• Availability that meets the needs of our cafes
  • Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days per week and must be able to work 2 peak days (peak days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Weekend and holiday availability preferred
• You must be authorized to work in the U.S.: upon acceptance of a job offer and completion of the Form I-9 with acceptable documents, Blank Street will provide the federal government with employees' Form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. (a process known as "E-Verify")
