Job summary

Blank Street in New York is looking for a hands-on Shift Lead to run operations on the floor, model hospitality, and support a fast-paced cafe environment. You’ll lead by example, ensure smooth service, and mentor teammates in coffee and matcha preparation.

The role emphasizes teamwork, guest experience, and driving daily sales while upholding brand standards. Candidates should have 2+ years in customer-service leadership, a love for cafe culture, and the flexibility to work 30–40 hours weekly,

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a customer service leadership position, preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverages.
• 18+ years of age and able to work 30–40 hours per week with 2 peak days.
• Able to lift 25+ lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Craft beautiful coffee and matcha products.
• Provide exceptional hospitality to Blank Street customers.
• Support the GM and train new employees on recipes and store processes.
• Open and close the store safely and follow checklists.
• Handle customer issues and drive store initiatives to increase foot traffic and sales.

As a Shift Lead, you'll play a key role in bringing our mission to life with your team. You'll lead by example on the floor, ensure smooth operations during your shift, and create an environment where both customers and team members feel valued. What You'll Own

• Craft beautiful coffee and matcha products
• Provide exceptional hospitality to Blank Street customers
• Support your GM and help train new employees to succeed at Blank Street, including ensuring that new team members are following all recipe on the menu and operational processes in the store
• Open and close the the store safely and responsibly ensuring that all checklists are followed
• Handle and solve customer issues that occur
• Leads and support initiatives at the store level that increase foot traffic, new customers, daily sales, and operational profitability

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in a customer service leadership position (e.g. Shift Leader Shift Supervisor, Key Holder), preferable in hospitality, coffee, or beverage
• 18+ years of age
• Able to lift 25+ lbs, and to stand for long periods of time
• Availability that meets the needs of our cafes
• Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days per week and must be able to work 2 peak days (peak days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Weekend and holiday availability preferred
• You must be authorized to work in the U.S.: upon acceptance of a job offer and completion of the Form I-9 with acceptable documents, Blank Street will provide the federal government with employees' Form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. (a process known as "E-Verify")
