Job summary

Blank Street in Los Angeles is seeking a Shift Lead to run shifts, coach the team, and uphold quality and hospitality. You will train teammates with the GM and Training Team, maintain safety and cleanliness, and deliver welcoming, consistent service.

This full-time role requires 2+ years in a customer-service leadership position, weekend availability, and the physical ability to lift 25+ lbs. Join a fast-paced, fun brand.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a customer service leadership position, preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverage.
• 18+ years of age.
• Able to lift 25+ lbs and stand for long periods.
• Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days, able to work 2 peak days (Fri–Sun).
• Weekend and holiday availability preferred.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. (I-9 process) and E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift with clarity and confidence, directing, coaching, and supporting the team.
• Train new team members alongside the GM and Training Team.
• Maintain product quality, safety, and hospitality standards.
• Delight customers with welcoming, consistent hospitality to turn them into regulars.
• Handle customer or team issues calmly and with solutions-oriented mindset.

What You'll Own

• Lead the shift with clarity and confidence directing, coaching, and supporting the team while owning the floor
• Train new team members alongside your General Manager and the Training Team
• Continue to train others as we evolve to ensure we are achieving our standards across product quality, safety, and hospitality
• Delight our customers with consistent, welcoming and engaging hospitality, taking the opportunity to turn every customer into a regular
• Step in to handle customer or team issues in a calm, positive, and solutions-oriented way
• Maintain a clean and organized environment upholding both Local Department of Health and Blank Street standards at all times
• Be an integral part of our world class team using the best equipment, coffee, and matcha in the industry
• Partner with our Operations and Marketing teams for events and promotions to expand our brand to new customers
• Set your team up for success by mastering different company procedures such as cash handling, inventory, waste tracking, and opening and closing processes

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in a customer service leadership position (e.g. Shift Leader Shift Supervisor, Key Holder), preferably in hospitality, coffee, or beverage
• 18+ years of age
• Able to lift 25+ lbs, and to stand for long periods of time
• Availability that meets the needs of our cafes, Full Time: 30-40 hours per week, 4-5 days per week and must be able to work 2 peak days (peak days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Weekend and holiday availability preferred
• You must be authorized to work in the U.S.: upon acceptance of a job offer and completion of the Form I-9 with acceptable documents, Blank Street will provide the federal government with employees' Form I-9 information to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. (a process known as "E-Verify")
• Blank Street will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act
