Job summary

Schaefer Plastics North America is seeking an Assistant Shift Leader to support the Shift Leader in coordinating people, production, quality, safety, and technical activity on the assigned shift. This hands-on floor leadership role helps keep production running, provides direction and support to employees, completes required documentation, and responds to routine equipment and process issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of production leadership or team lead experience.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality, and SOPs.
• Intermediate computer skills and ability to learn production systems.
• Ability to read safety rules, work orders, and production schedules.
• Strong communication, organization, and decision-making.
• Documented training and authorization for each machine or process.

Responsibilities

• Provide work direction and coaching to assigned employees.
• Monitor staffing, attendance, safety, quality, and productivity.
• Address floor issues and escalate when needed.
• Ensure tools and PPE are available.
• Complete inspections and shift reports.
