Job summary

Jacksons Food Stores, Inc. is seeking a dependable Shift Lead / Head Cashier in Portland, OR to oversee daily store operations on assigned shifts. You will mentor team members, lead by example, and deliver exceptional customer service while ensuring smooth operations.

This role supports scheduling, vendor coordination, and adherence to regulations. The ideal candidate has supervisory experience in retail or foodservice, a friendly can-do attitude, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly service on every shift.
• Perform cashier duties, ringing up sales and applying promotions with accuracy.
• Promote store products and services to maximize sales.
• Maintain store cleanliness across all areas and displays.
• Stock, rotate, and label shelves and coolers.
• Manage food service and beverage programs for revenue and compliance.
• Check in vendors and coordinate communication as needed.
• Lead key tasks and support special projects on shift.
• Assist with scheduling changes and inform Store Manager.
• Coach and motivate team members with Store/Asst Managers.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Job Description

We’re looking for a reliable, motivatedShift Lead / Head Cashier to help oversee daily operations during assigned shifts. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Greet every customer with a smile, thank them for their business, and invite them back.
• Perform cashier duties, including ringing up sales, applying promotions, and ensuring accuracy..
• Provide fast, friendly service and promote store products and services.
• Maintain store cleanliness, including sales floor, coolers, pumps, and foodservice areas.
• Stock, rotate, and label shelves, coolers, and displays.
• Manage food service and beverage programs to maximize sales and compliance.
• Check in vendors and communicate as needed.
• Lead completion of key store tasks and support special projects.
• Assist with schedule adjustments and communicate changes to the Store Manager.
• Partner with Store and Assistant Managers to coach and motivate team members.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (alcohol, tobacco, Lotto, etc.).
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and listen.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.
• Work safely in work conditions that include heat, cold, allergen, noise, and fume/chemical/odor from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
