Job Overview
Perform major repairs and maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality and safety standards are achieved and maintained.
Responsibilities
- Follow procedures to secure inventory and assets (tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions, etc.). Replenish supplies and inventory in a timely and efficient manner while minimizing waste.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Respond courteously and promptly to all guest questions, complaints, and requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Perform maintenance and repairs for assigned areas, such as interior and exterior of buildings, hotel rooms, laundry and kitchen equipment, lighting, heating, air conditioning (HVAC), ventilation, water treatment systems, and swimming pool (if applicable).
- Ensure assigned equipment is prepared and operational for the following day’s work.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local safety regulations, brand standards, and local policies to maintain quality, safety, and consistency.
- Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor; may educate and train hotel staff on safe and proper equipment use.
- Perform other minor maintenance and repairs and/or conduct preventative maintenance duties as needed.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional certification and license if required by law.
- Physical ability to carry, lift, push and/or pull items weighing up to 100‑300 pounds, frequently stand, move, bend, stoop, kneel, climb and crawl.
- Specialized knowledge or certification within a field such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, equipment mechanics, HVAC, refrigeration, etc.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with supervisors, hotel staff, and guests.
- Reading and writing abilities for documenting tasks, ordering supplies, and using repair manuals.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling quantities and variances.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Compensation
The rate of pay for this role is $18.57 per hour.
