Job summary

Constellis is seeking a Shift Coordinator to support Central Control Facility operations in a nuclear setting. Under limited supervision, you will assist management to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-efficient site operations, handling emergency communications, alarms, weather alerts and public announcements.

You will coordinate with offsite agencies, activate emergency teams, perform system checks, and liaise with management and auditors.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in related field with 7+ years experience or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of nuclear facility operations and DOE safety requirements.
  • Experience in emergency response as part of the plant Emergency Response Organization.
  • DOE L or Q clearance or ability to obtain.
  • Attention to detail and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to emergency calls 24/7 at the Central Control Facility.
  • Serve as off-site communicator for emergency notifications to agencies.
  • Monitor alarms, weather, and public warning systems; support announcements.
  • Dispatch response personnel and activate Emergency Operations Center cadres.
  • Interface with management, auditors, and outside groups; support plan reviews.

Job description

Position Overview

Under limited supervision, performs Shift Coordinator job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities include assisting and supporting management in ensuring that all site Operations are conducted in a manner that is safe, cost effective and fully compliant with Centerra procedures and all contractual, statutory, and regulatory requirements. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  • Monitor and receive emergency calls to the C-300 Central Control Facility (via phone or radio) 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
  • Receive calls from personnel reporting issues 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
  • Serve as the off-site communicator to perform required immediate emergency notifications to offsite agencies.
  • Monitor utility system alarms and criticality accident alarm system and responds as required.
  • Monitor weather conditions, lightning detection system, and makes severe weather notifications to site personnel as needed.
  • Monitor the fire alarm, consoles, and emergency network and responds as required
  • Initiate and perform public address announcements as needed to support daily activities and emergency announcements,
  • Dispatch response personnel
  • Activate the emergency response organization (Emergency Operations Center Cadre, Joint Information Center Cadre, and recall of Fire Services personnel) using the ALL-CALL system and Webbook Alerts
  • Activate the public warning system (PWS) as required.
  • Perform daily operability checks of the site-wide PA System.
  • Perform weekly operability checks of the site Take Cover and Evacuation signals and red handle phones
  • Support the monthly public warning sirens test.
  • Support D&R contractor with operation of the C-300 CAAS console during maintenance activities.
  • Support D&R contractor as a point of contact for facility operators during offshift.
  • Provide turnover briefings to D&R shift personnel during offshift.
  • Interface with groups inside and outside the organization, senior management, and auditors
  • Assist with the development or review/update of various plans, policies or procedures as needed
  • Assist with maintaining positive employee relations

  • Maintain knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner. If supervising others, they have responsibility for the safety of those being supervised and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits
  • Actively participate in Safety Work Groups
  • Work in an office at a normal environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities or industrial field environments). May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
  • Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system"), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
  • Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage. In some cases, radiological training may be required.

Requirements
  • BA/BS degree in a related field and 7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience ranges from 7 - 10 years.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of and experience with nuclear facility operations
  • Experience in emergency response as a member of the plants Emergency Response Organization
  • Knowledge of and experience with DOE nuclear facility safety including technical safety requirements, processes and reporting requirements
  • Attention to detail
  • Expert PC skills including Microsoft software
  • DOE “L" or “Q" clearance or ability to obtain a DOE “L" or “Q" clearance
