Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Central Control Resident Advisors and Float Resident Advisors.
  • Manage daily operations, safety, security, and sanitation of the facility.
  • Ensure schedules are followed and residents comply with rules; coordinate with Operations Manager.
  • Assist with facility investigations, problem-solving and program initiatives; ensure compliance with ACA/DRC/PREA standards.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and proper grounds maintenance.

FRANKLIN COUNTY COMMUNITY BASED CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

The Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF) is a minimum security, American Correctional Association (ACA) accredited, residential prison diversion program for adult male offenders. The Franklin County CBCF is a 180-bed facility that houses adult male offenders (referred to as “residents”) for a maximum of 180 days. The CBCF believes community safety is of upmost importance. Second is targeting residents’ criminogenic needs via intense cognitive behavioral programming in an effort to reduce their likelihood of recidivating. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Shift Coordinator at the Franklin County Community Based Correctional Facility (CBCF) is a facility position responsible for overseeing the Central Control Resident Advisors, Float Resident Advisors, and the daily operations, safety, security, and sanitation of the facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Shift Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment throughout the facility and its surrounding grounds. In coordination with the Operations Manager, the Shift Coordinator ensures daily operational schedules are followed, residents comply with facility rules and expectations, facility operations are conducted efficiently, and the physical plant and grounds are properly maintained.

The Shift Coordinator is responsible for promoting the safety and security of residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and the facility as a whole through proactive supervision, operational oversight, and effective incident response. The Shift Coordinator also assists the Operations Manager with facility investigations, operational problem-solving, and the implementation of departmental initiatives. In addition, this position supports the Operations Manager in ensuring compliance with all applicable Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) standards, American Correctional Association (ACA) standards and expected practices, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, facility policies, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

WORK HOURS: 12 hour shifts; 5:30 am-5:30 pm or 5:30 pm-5:30 am; evenings and weekends required; Subject to mandated overtime; 84 hour alternating biweekly schedule; Volunteer overtime opportunities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and have ability to operate office equipment. Must be sufficiently ambulatory to complete and conduct necessary security protocol.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Shift Coordinators must be able to type 20 words per minute and have proficient computer skills. High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or other related field preferred. Two (2) years of experience in corrections preferred. One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred. Must have good interpersonal skills and good oral/written communication skills. Must be able to function on a team. Must possess valid Ohio driver’s license and have a good driving record.
