Job summary

Oklo is seeking a Shielding Analysis Engineer to join our engineering team. You will define, develop, and execute radiation shielding and radiation transport analyses to support reactor design, plant layout, performance evaluation, and safety assurance.

This role requires strong Python, HPC experience, and familiarity with Monte Carlo/transport tools (MCNP, SCALE, OpenMC, Serpent). You will collaborate with the design team and contribute to verification, licensing, and technical reporting in a

Qualifications

• Fluency with Python.
• Proficiency with high performance computing systems.
• Experience with fast reactor design, shielding design, or radiation protection analysis is highly recommended.
• Proficiency with radiation transport tools such as MCNP, SCALE, OpenMC, and Serpent is highly recommended.
• Proficiency with variance reduction techniques (weight windows, surface read/write, source biasing, CADIS/FW-CADIS) is recommended.
• Experience with source-term generation, activation, dose-rate calculations, and shielding design methods is recommended.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and execute shielding/transport analyses for reactor design, layout, and safety.
• Perform Monte Carlo and deterministic shielding calculations using MCNP, SCALE, OpenMC, Serpent.
• Analyze source term, activation, streaming, skyshine, and dose-rate effects with appropriate methods.
• Support verification/validation and licensing interactions with technically sound shielding analyses.
• Collaborate with design teams and document work with clear technical reports.
