$2,000 HIRING BONUS*

The Sheriff's Department is recruiting Experienced Communications Dispatchers to dispatch and maintain continuous communication with emergency units in the field. Positions are primarily located at the Valley Control Center in Rialto and the Desert Control Center in Hesperia. Each center serves as the primary 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for its respective geographic location. Multiple vacancies exist at both locations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
1) Certificate:Successful completion of 120 or 160-hour P.O.S.T. Basic Dispatcher, Basic Courseand receive a satisfactory work performance evaluation.
2) Background: Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony and must successfully pass an extensive background investigation which includes a fingerprint check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation.
3) Shifts: Applicants must be available for all shifts; incumbents will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends,holidays, and evenings, including mandatory overtime; refusal of assigned shift may result in removal from the list or termination. Shift differential is available.
4) Availability: This department is a "24/7" operation, and the incumbent can expect to work rotating, night, weekend, day, and graveyard shifts, as well as holidays and weekends.
5)Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

EXPERIENCEOne (1) year of emergency dispatching experience with a law enforcement agency.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • 40-hour Computer-aided Dispatching System Training Course Certificate
  • Department of Justice certified CLETS course
  • Department of Justice certified DMV course
  • Emergency dispatching experience with a law enforcement agency within the past five (5) years.
Examination: There will be acompetitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire. It is to your advantage to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible.
