Job summary

County of Merced seeks an experienced administrator to plan, organize, and direct the department's administrative functions. You will develop budgets, manage expenditures, and coordinate annual budget requests while supervising staff and guiding program development.

The role requires strong data analysis, policy interpretation, and effective collaboration with other departments and the Board. This position represents the Sheriff’s Office with the public and government agencies.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience including fiscal and personnel management and program development.
• Two (2) years of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
• Equivalent to graduation from a four (4) year college or university with a degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Fiscal Administration, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, manage, coordinate and direct the administrative functions of the department.
• Develop and control the department budget; ensure proper expenditure controls.
• Direct annual budget requests and preparation; oversee grants and reimbursement processes.
• Develop and implement efficient service delivery methods and procedures.
• Direct contracts, leases, and related negotiations; oversee personnel and program activities.
• Supervise data analysis, program evaluation, and reporting to ensure compliance with policy.
• Represent the County and department with the public and other agencies; prepare Board presentations.
