Looking For A SHEQ Manager in Broadview, USA

As a SHEQ Manager you are responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. This role drives a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by promoting best practices in SHEQ management, reducing risks, and enhancing product quality and workplace safety.

What you'll do:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Developing and enforcing SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems in conformance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conducting risk assessments, audits, and investigations to identify areas for improvement (root cause and corrective action management).
  • Documenting defects and recommendations for improvement.
  • Leading initiatives to promote a safe and sustainable work environment.
  • Managing quality assurance and control processes to uphold product and service standards.
  • Routine offline and online checks to produce lots of TPEs including custom tests.
  • Evaluating production stages and testing the composition, appearance, and functionality of completed products.
  • Ensuring that products comply with internal specifications.
  • Providing training and guidance to employees on SHEQ best practices. Training employees in quality standards and procedures.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate SHEQ objectives into business operations.
  • Driving continuous improvement programs to enhance safety, environmental performance, and quality standards.
  • Lead quality complaints from internal and external customers.
  • Preparing and presenting quality investigation reports to senior management.
  • Maintenance of QC department including laboratory testing instruments.
  • Responsible for calibration of production and lab inventory of durometers, scales, and other testing instruments; maintain records.
  • Responsible for color matching processes, color tolerance specification, colorant supplier recommendations, and technical support for color masterbatches.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel required.

  • Collaboration – Collaboration across departments and disciplines. Work closely with sales, production, and other departments to ensure that quality efforts are aligned with the organization’s overall objectives.
  • High degree of attention to detail and diligence.
  • Strong mathematical and problem solving / reasoning skills.
  • Time management and planning – ability to meet tight deadlines.

Education and/or Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of quality control / quality assurance experience.
  • Experience with plastics testing and instrumentation.
  • Experience with external and internal auditing processes.
  • Plastic mixing and compounding experience is desirable.
  • Preferred experience includes lab testing, color match, color blends, compounding of concentrate masterbatch, TPEs, lab injection molding and extrusion techniques, and experience handling equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Position requires working in both a manufacturing area which is not climate controlled and an office area which may or may not be climate controlled.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods.
  • Lifting to 60 lbs. is often required.
  • Use of appropriate personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, hearing protection, safety eyeglasses, steel-toed safety shoes that meet the ANSI/ASTM I75/C75 standard whenever in the manufacturing lab areas, and the use of a full-face mask respirator when needed.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders several times a day.
  • Manual dexterity of fingers and hands to feel and type.
  • Visual perception including color for quality check.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment varies from loud when in the plant area to quiet in the office areas.
