Job summary

Allen County Public Library's Georgetown Branch seeks a part-time Shelver to keep shelves tidy and accessible for patrons. This role suits students or anyone seeking flexible, light-physical work in a busy library setting.

Starting pay is $11.70 to $14.00 per hour, based on experience, with a 12-hour weekly schedule including Tue/Thu evenings and Sat afternoons. Benefits include FSA, paid sick and vacation accruals, EAP, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and steady organization habits.
• Ability to read and interpret letters and numbers quickly and correctly.
• Comfortable working on your feet and moving materials throughout a shift.
• Must complete and pass the Dewey Decimal Skills Test (available at any branch or the Main Library during open hours)

Responsibilities

• Sort and shelve books and other materials accurately
• File items alphabetically and numerically (yes, both!)
• Assist with basic processing of materials so they're shelf-ready
• Work cooperatively with staff to support branch goals

Day to day as a shelver
