Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and steady organization habits.
• Able to read and interpret letters and numbers quickly and correctly.
• Comfortable standing and moving materials during shifts.
• Must complete and pass the Dewey Decimal Skills Test.

Responsibilities

• Sort and shelve books and other materials accurately.
• File items alphabetically and numerically.
• Assist with basic processing to ensure shelf readiness.
• Work cooperatively with staff to support branch goals.

Day to day as a shelver

As a part-time Shelver, you'll keep our collection easy to find and ready for the next big discovery-because a well-ordered shelf is a happy shelf.

Key responsibilities

• Sort and shelve books and other materials accurately
• File items alphabetically and numerically (yes, both!)
• Assist with basic processing of materials so they're shelf-ready
• Work cooperatively with staff to support branch goals

Required skills/qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and steady organization habits
• Ability to read and interpret letters and numbers quickly and correctly
• Comfortable working on your feet and moving materials throughout a shift
• Must complete and pass the Dewey Decimal Skills Test (available at any branch or the Main Library during open hours)
