SPCA Florida seeks a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our shelter medicine team. You will perform daily medical rounds, administer medications, assist veterinarians during surgeries, and maintain medical records. This role emphasizes collaboration, compassion for animals, and adherence to humane care standards in a busy shelter environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.
• CVT certification preferred but not required.
• Experience in general veterinary medicine is a plus.
• Shelter medicine or animal welfare experience is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary nursing and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health and well-being of shelter animals through daily medical rounds.
• Follow up on medical concerns via verbal, email, or internal systems.
• Identify and communicate changes in an animal's condition to the veterinary team.
• Administer medications and vaccines per shelter protocols.
• Check in new animals through medical intake and document treatments.
• Assist veterinarians during surgery and anesthesia monitoring.
• Maintain accurate medical records and equipment inventory.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical areas.
