Job summary

Collier County Domestic Animal Services is seeking a Shelter Veterinarian who specializes in high-volume spay and neuter to join our team. You will perform medical exams, diagnose illnesses, conduct surgeries, and provide preventative care to a diverse population of domestic animals.

The role requires supervising staff, overseeing surgical and clinical care, managing vaccines and meds, and maintaining detailed medical records. Florida license and DEA license are required.

Qualifications

• Active Florida veterinary license required.
• Must possess and maintain a Drug Enforcement Agency license.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, counseling and appraisals.
• Oversees pre-, peri-, and post-operative clinical care for all animals.
• Performs high volume, high quality sterilization procedures for dogs, cats, and rabbits.
• Manages vaccines, drugs, and medical supplies, and maintains controlled substances logs.
• Prevents disease transmission and updates sanitizing procedures as needed.
• Performs rabies inoculations and routine exams; provides heartworm treatment.
• Keeps clear medical records and enters data into the database.
• Administers medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes.
