Job summary

The ASPCA’s ARC facility in New York, NY seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician to deliver compassionate nursing care and support shelter medicine, with strong pharmacology and prophylaxis knowledge. You will work as part of a team with veterinarians, behaviorists, and administrative staff.

This full-time, on-site role may require weekends and occasional overtime. You will perform venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, vaccinations, and maintain medical records under SOPs, while mentoring new

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment combining emergency and shelter medicine and multi-task with integrity and attention to detail.
• Excellent low-stress animal handling skills.
• Team player with effective communication and collaboration.
• Willingness to learn, implement, and teach new protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality with information from criminal cases.
• Able to engage in humane euthanasia when required.
• Continuing education as required by ASPCA and licensing board.

Responsibilities

• Nursing and shelter population care including veterinary clinical care and admin tasks.
• Care for up to 40 cats/dogs per day with Fear Free/Low Stress handling.
• Administer injections, vaccinations, medications, treatments, and supportive care as directed.
• Maintain logs, inventory, and patient records; ensure equipment is functional.
• Provide training and onboarding to direct care team and new hires.
• Adhere to OSHA and SOPs; participate in daily shift rounds and trainings.
