Job summary

Mercy House in Ventura, CA is seeking a Shelter Specialist to provide supportive services and logistical support for the Emergency Shelter Program on a part-time, on-call basis. Shifts vary and may include weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and strong Spanish-language skills are highly valued. You will assist with shelter activities, maintain a safe, client-focused environment, and support administrative duties while promoting

Qualifications

High tolerance and understanding for individuals requiring urgent multiple case management and health needs.
Capable of performing crisis intervention when needed.
Ability to complete guest-focused, trauma-informed, and housing-focused job duties.

Responsibilities

Assist in shelter activities to ensure guest-focused, trauma-informed service delivery.
Encourage discussions about housing progress with shelter guests.
Assist with shelter setup, cleanliness, and supplies management.
Maintain detailed daily summary sheets and assist with record-keeping.
Support guest services and program activities as needed.
