Job summary

Mercy House in Ventura, CA is seeking a Shelter Specialist to provide supportive services and logistical support for the Emergency Shelter Program on a part-time, on-call basis. Shifts vary and may include weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and strong Spanish-language skills are highly valued. You will assist with shelter activities, maintain a safe, client-focused environment, and support administrative duties while promoting

Qualifications

• High tolerance and understanding for individuals requiring urgent multiple case management and health needs.
• Capable of performing crisis intervention when needed.
• Ability to complete guest-focused, trauma-informed, and housing-focused job duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist in shelter activities to ensure guest-focused, trauma-informed service delivery.
• Encourage discussions about housing progress with shelter guests.
• Assist with shelter setup, cleanliness, and supplies management.
• Maintain detailed daily summary sheets and assist with record-keeping.
• Support guest services and program activities as needed.
