Ideal candidates will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification, with seasonal assignments that may last several days to 30+ days.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in emergency shelter operations or supervisory roles preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee shift operations and provide guidance to Shelter Workers.
  • Ensure residents receive meals, hygiene supplies, and medical assistance.
  • Serve as point of contact during shifts and respond to needs and concerns.
  • Monitor shelter conditions and report safety issues to the Shelter Manager.
  • Assist with shift scheduling, documentation, and incident reporting.
  • Maintain communication between shelter teams and ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Enforce shelter protocols and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary: The Workforce Group a LEMOINE company, is currently seeking dependable and experienced individuals to serve as Shelter Supervisors for emergency response shelter operations. In this role, you will support the Shelter Manager by overseeing day-to-day shift operations, supervising shelter workers, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. Shelter Supervisors play a key role in coordinating logistics, maintaining order, and ensuring high-quality service delivery during times of crisis.

These areseasonal positions and, if activated, will likely require travel on short notice, generally lasting from several days to a few weeks and possibly 30 days or more, depending on the disaster response needs. Ideal candidates for these missions will be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification.

Location: Disaster Response Locations – Various Sites Statewide

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee shift operations and provide guidance and support to Shelter Workers.
  • Ensure shelter residents receive appropriate services including meals, hygiene supplies, and medical assistance.
  • Serve as point of contact during assigned shifts and respond to resident needs, questions, and concerns.
  • Monitor shelter conditions and report facility or safety issues to the Shelter Manager.
  • Assist with shift scheduling, documentation, and incident reporting.
  • Maintain communication between shelter teams and ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Enforce shelter rules and resolve conflicts with professionalism and empathy.
  • Ensure compliance with shelter protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in emergency shelter operations, human services, or supervisory roles is preferred.

  • Ability to lead teams in high-stress environments with professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer tools (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word).
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
