Job summary

Montgomery County is seeking a supervisory professional to lead Youth & Family Advocates in a non-secure residential setting. You will train and supervise YFAs, oversee program maintenance, and promote sound child-care practices in line with Child Protective Services Law, Juvenile Act, and Article 3800 regulations.

The role requires guiding youth and staff, crisis management, and ensuring safety, while maintaining mandated ratios and documenting incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social sciences and at least two (2) years' experience as a Youth & Family Advocate or in a social services field. Supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to guide, mentor and supervise youths and employees effectively.
• Must be physically capable of handling adolescents during crisis situations using established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Quality assurance of care provided to residents by Youth & Family Advocates.
• Ensure staff and residents follow facility policies and procedures.
• Review, investigate and document all incidents properly.
• Plan and supervise youth and staff in daily living activities including recreation, education, resident employment programs, meals, etc.
• Coordinate development of structured programs for youths.
• Train new shelter employees and student interns.
• Report infractions to the Shelter Administrator.
• Ensure safety and well-being of youth and employees.
• Maintain mandated staff-resident ratios as per state regulations.
• Supervise staff and youth during all activities and programs.
• Participate in evaluating employee performance and personnel actions.
• Perform related work as required.

Job description

A supervisory position working with dependent and alleged delinquent youth and Youth & Family Advocates (YFAs) in a non-secure residential setting. Responsible for the training and supervision of the YFAs, for the maintenance of the program and for fostering good child-care practices. Must be familiar with the Child Protective Services Law, the Juvenile Act, and Article 3800 regulations of the Department of Human Services.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the quality of care administered to the residents by the Youth & Family Advocates.

• Ensures that staff and residents adhere to all policies and procedures of the facility.
• Ensures that all incidents are reviewed, investigated and documented properly.
• Plans and supervises youth and staff in daily living activities including, but not limited to, recreation, education, resident employment program, meals, etc.
• Monitors and coordinates the development of structured programs for youths.
• Responsible for the training of new shelter employees and student interns.
• Reports to the Shelter Administrator any infractions of Youth Center policies.
• Ensures the safety and well-being of the program for both youth and employees.
• Maintains and enforces mandated ratios being met as outlined by state regulations.
• Supervises staff and youth during all structured activities and programs.
• Participate in evaluating employee work performances and personnel actions.
• Performs related work as required.

• Must have a valid drivers' license.
• Must submit clearances (PA State Police, Child Abuse, FBI).
• Must submit to pre-employment drug screening.
