Job summary

Friends of Switchpoint in Tooele, UT is seeking a Shelter Resident Support Specialist. This part-time role covers the graveyard shift from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, supporting residents experiencing homelessness and assisting daily shelter operations with kindness and respect.

You will provide compassionate assistance to individuals, families, and veterans, maintain logs, coordinate transport, and help ensure a safe, welcoming environment while following organization values and policies.

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement switchpoint’s mission and values and adhere to all policies and procedures.
• Provide exceptional customer service to all guests of the facility.
• Keep a daily log of all occurrences within the facility for each shift.
• Make notes of special requirements and needs that residents may have (diet, ADA accommodations) and coordinate with management to facilitate those needs.
• Update maintenance log with maintenance requests.
• Arrange transportation for residents in shuttle vans.
• Actively listen to residents and respond to needs appropriately.
• Report resident concerns to case management and management.
• Perform simple cleaning (public bathrooms, sweeping, mopping).
• Assist with store transactions for residents.
• Monitor cameras and log activity.
• Complete perimeter checks and walkthroughs for safety; log concerns.
• Handle security issues/ complaints by contacting non-emergency dispatch or 911 as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

PURPOSE:

Requirements

• Actively listen to the needs of the residents and act to meet those needs appropriately.
• Report any resident concerns to case management and management.
• Simple cleaning (public bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, etc.)
• Assist with convenience store transactions
• Monitor cameras and log activity
• Complete perimeter checks around the building and walk-throughs in the building to ensure the safety and security of residents. Log and document any concerns.
• Handle security issues/complaints by involving either non-emergency dispatch or 911 for emergency services
• Other duties as assigned.

Compensation:
