Job summary

Children’s Rescue Fund in Bronx, NY seeks a Recreation Specialist to plan, organize, and conduct recreational activities for clients and their children in the temporary shelter. This role supports families at our New York City location and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

The Recreation Specialist will coordinate community resources, develop activities on budget, arrange trips, and build links with external programs to enrich client experiences.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must complete Mandated Reporter training (within hire).
  • At least 6 months of relevant work experience required.
  • Evenings and weekends availability may be needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office required.

Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between the site and community recreational resources.
  • Develop and facilitate activities for families in the shelter.
  • Coordinate external recreational programs and facilities.
  • Organize client trips and special facility events.
  • Coordinate attendance for community and DHS events.
  • Engage with community providers to expand recreational opportunities.
  • Maintain contacts with museums, theaters, and sports programs to promote events.
