Zusammenfassung

SMOC is seeking a Program Advocate to oversee shelter operations during working hours and maintain a safe, supportive environment for clients and staff. This role reports to the Program Director and requires strong interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and the ability to respond to crises.

A 35-hour work week is standard, with Tue–Sat scheduling and an 8:00 AM–4:00 PM shift. The position emphasizes client dignity, team communication, and adherence to program and funder requirements, with

Qualifikationen

• Two years of sobriety minimum.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Sensitivity to the needs of low-income clients.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to respond in crisis situations.
• Knowledge of substance use and mental illness preferred.
• Basic computer skills for training records.

Aufgaben

• Be alert to shelter surroundings and respond to issues during each shift.
• Maintain client and staff safety during shifts.
• Check with staff and read logs for prior shift information.
• Maintain logs and files for each shift.
• Report problems and infractions to Program Director in writing.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in training.
• Treat guests with dignity, maintain confidentiality, and set boundaries.
• Ensure rounds are performed every 15 minutes.
• Engage clients by understanding and addressing their needs.
• Communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
• Maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with laws and funder requirements.
• Ensure compliance with program, policy, and funder requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.
