Responsibilities

  • Be alert to shelter surroundings and respond to issues during each shift.
  • Maintain client and staff safety throughout the shift.
  • Check with other staff and read logs for information from previous shifts.
  • Maintain logs and files for each shift.
  • Report problems and rule infractions to Program Director; escalate emergencies to the supervisor.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in training.
  • Treat guests with dignity, maintain confidentiality, and set appropriate boundaries.
  • Ensure rounds are conducted every 15 minutes.
  • Engage clients by understanding and addressing their needs within the scope of work.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and staff across areas.

As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Program Advocate will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.

Sunday through Thursday: 2:00PM - 10:00PM. Includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
