Job summary

City of Houston is seeking a BARC Shelter Supervisor (Medical Division) to oversee the Medical Services area and manage a team of technicians. The role includes supervising the intake and adoption processes, wellness clinics, surgery, euthanasia, and related medical procedures within the shelter.

The position requires an associate degree and four years in leadership or administrative roles, plus a valid Texas driver license.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; additional education may substitute for up to two years of experience.
• Four years of leadership, customer service, or administrative experience required.
• A valid Texas Driver License and compliance with city driving policy required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the operations and activities of Medical Services, including Senior Animal Care Technicians (Medical).
• Oversee intake, adoption, wellness clinic, surgery, euthanasia and medical processes; manage policy implementation and budget preparation.
• Maintain shelter management system/database accuracy and daily inventory; coordinate with staff for timely adoptions/rescues.
• Participate in audits, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions; ensure safety and compliance.

Education

Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, Business Administration, or a related field
