Job summary

Women In Need (Win) seeks a dependable Maintenance Worker in New York to support upkeep, safety, and the appearance of shelter facilities. You will perform routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

The role demands hands-on skills in basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Experience performing building maintenance or custodial work preferred.
• Ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry repairs.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections throughout the facility and grounds.
• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming indoor and outdoor spaces, including snow and ice removal.
• Repair furniture, appliances, equipment, doors, locks, and other building components.
• Complete minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and sheetrock repairs.
• Conduct unit inspections and perform preventative maintenance activities.
• Inspect, maintain, and replace detectors as needed.
• Assist with seasonal maintenance of heating and air conditioning units.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and complete additional duties as assigned.
