Job summary

VOA-Greater New York is seeking a Maintenance Worker III to oversee maintenance of the facility in a residential shelter environment. You will recruit and supervise staff, implement preventative maintenance plans, and manage work orders and budgets.

The role requires availability for emergencies and a willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in a dynamic shelter setting, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of maintenance experience; supervisory experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills required for reporting and record-keeping.
• Experience in a residential shelter environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train and supervise maintenance staff.
• Prepare and carry out a preventative maintenance plan including fire safety and other systems requirements.
• Track property maintenance, work orders, inventory, and purchases in computerized systems.
• Respond to emergency calls outside regular work hours.
• Assist in capital budget preparation.
• Ensure regulatory inspections are performed and filed on time.
