Job summary

The City of Dallas is hiring an Animal Keeper II to provide daily care for animals at the Dallas Animal Shelter. You will feed, handle, and monitor animals, maintain clean housing, and assist the public with information about services offered.

You will document animal records, coordinate with veterinarians and volunteers, and support enrichment activities while working in a dynamic shelter environment. Evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of paid animal feeding/care experience with public interactions OR six (6) months of volunteer animal care in an animal shelter/veterinary clinic.
• Six (6) months of customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Feed animals according to written instructions and administer medicines as directed.
• Clean and maintain animal housing and equipment; report hazards.
• Monitor animals for illness or injury and ensure humane care.
• Recordkeeping of animal information and vaccine/status updates.
• Provide enrichment and interact with the public to educate on animal care.
