Job summary

The City of Longview operates its animal shelter and seeks an attentive staff member to care for animals, clean facilities, feed and medicate as directed, and assist adopters in finding suitable matches.

You will respond to inquiries, educate adopters about breeds, maintain records, and support euthanasia procedures as needed under policy and supervision. This is a full-time position with standard city benefits.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year experience with animals preferred.
Possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
Ability to obtain euthanasia certificate within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

Clean and maintain all Animal Shelter facilities.
Feed, care for, and medicate impounded animals as directed.
Move animals safely between areas within the shelter.
Provide maintenance and minor repairs to shelter equipment.
Respond to public inquiries in person and by phone; provide shelter information.
Educate adopters on breeds, traits, and adoption requirements.
Complete and maintain kennels, animal, and supply records.
