Job summary

Seminole County Animal Shelter is seeking staff to care for animals, maintain facilities, and assist the public with adoptions and lost-animal redemption.

Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, health monitoring, vaccines, and euthanasia assistance. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Florida driver's license, and rabies vaccination by probation completion.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of techniques utilized in the safe handling of animals.
• Ability to deal with emotional and aggressive situations in a professional and courteous manner.
• Must be available to work holidays, weekends, and during emergency response operations.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Must be inoculated against rabies prior to completion of probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Cares for the animals within the shelter; feeding, cleaning, monitoring behavior and health.
• Maintains cages and equipment in good repair.
• Assists customers with adoptions and redeeming lost animals.
• Vaccinates and worm animals as needed; informs supervisor of problems.
• Assists in euthanasia of animals.
• Cleans the freezer and crematorium.
• Performs other related work as required.
• In emergencies, all employees may perform alternate duties.
