Salt Lake County is seeking an Animal Behavior Specialist to conduct behavioral assessments of shelter animals and mitigate stress through enrichment and training. The role involves mentoring staff and volunteers, providing behavior guidance to adopters, and ensuring proper documentation of each animal’s progress.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year in customer service and prefer experience with various animals.

Qualificações

• One (1) year of experience in a customer service environment.
• Experience working with small domestic animals, livestock, and exotic animals preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Conducts behavioral assessments on impounded dogs based on shelter protocol.
• Creates behavior modification and training plans for dogs with behavioral challenges and follows up with staff and volunteers.
• Provides instruction to adopters and fosters to increase awareness of dog behavior.
• Tracks and maintains documentation of assessments and plans.
• Consults with staff and volunteers to discuss problem behaviors and solutions.
• Maintains shelter database with progress notes.
