Job summary

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND CONSUMER SERVICES seeks an Environmental Specialist III to conduct regulatory inspections of food establishments, evaluate sanitation and processing controls, and enforce state rules. You will document findings, issue corrective actions, and collaborate with federal and state partners as needed.

The role requires knowledge of the statutes governing age-restricted foods, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to travel to multiple inspection sites

Qualifications

• Knowledge of regulatory health and sanitation standards for food establishments.
• Ability to conduct regulatory inspections and evaluate processing methods and equipment.
• Ability to interpret rules and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regulatory inspections of food establishments for compliance with state statutes and rules.
• Perform risk-based evaluations of processes, equipment, and personnel practices to ensure food safety.
• Prepare reports documenting deficiencies and enforcement actions; provide testimony when required.
• Coordinate inspections with FDA and other agencies as appropriate.
• Attend training and maintain knowledge of current regulations and procedures.
