General Description
This position is at a Depot Level repair facility, focusing on maintenance of H-60 aircraft. Military aviation platform experience is a plus. The role requires a government-issued clearance.
DUTIES
- Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties, including disassembly, modification, repair, and reassembly of complex aircraft metal items and systems such as bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets, and fuel tanks. These items have straight and curved edges and irregular curves and planes.
- Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems; develop patterns; fabricate, install, and repair items using various metals like stainless steel, copper, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, and aluminum. Replace sections, patch systems, and shape metals for irregular angles and curves. Use assembly joints, fastening systems, rivets, welds, drill or punch holes, and assemble or repair by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, or tacking, meeting appearance, strength, and tolerance standards. Pass a certification skills examination as a condition of employment.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, gauges, squares, rulers, and sine bars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Sheetmetal Mechanic (Aircraft Mechanic II)
- H-60 aircraft experience preferred
- A&P license is a plus but not required
- Experience from military fixed wing community or civilian heavy structure background preferred
- Up to 25% travel may be required
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance

- Ability to walk, stand, crawl, kneel, and bend on various surfaces
- Ability to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, work stands
- Ability to crouch, grasp, pull, push, reach, and handle objects, with good finger dexterity
- May need to lift and carry up to 44 pounds
- Ability to see and read instruments, gauges, and small objects; distinguish colors; operate machinery and tools

- Work indoors and outdoors around machinery, vehicles, ladders, scaffolds
- Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, gases, solvents, oils, electrical energy
- Work on slippery or uneven surfaces
- Work alone or with others; possibly irregular hours
