Job description

Overview

Quad Packaging is seeking a Lead Sheetfed Operator to work on our 12-hour weekend shift. This role involves operating advanced packaging equipment to produce folding cartons and blister cards. Responsibilities

• Prepare for operation: access job ticket information and set up the offset press machine for the correct substrate, ink, and plate specifications. Communicate job information and instructions to support staff. Ensure the machine is stocked with needed supplies.
• Operate Sheetfed Press: operate assigned equipment safely to finish printed products per customer specifications. Monitor raw material supply levels and add materials as needed.
• Perform Quality Checks: complete quality checklists and visually inspect products throughout production to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Perform Maintenance: monitor machine operations, make adjustments as needed, and perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Perform Line Clearance: clean the work area and remove finished products and associated materials after a job.
• Troubleshoot issues and maintain proper ink and water balance.
• Keep a maintenance issues list for next scheduled maintenance; coordinate duties during maintenance with the crew.
• Check and set rollers and replace as necessary.
• Manage downtime efficiently to meet production requirements and continuously learn new processes to improve output.
• Train and develop other pressroom personnel; assist Supervisors with documenting procedures and providing feedback for employee evaluations.
• Promote teamwork across shifts and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Lead Sheetfed Operator experience; packaging/printing field preferred.
• Experience with Heidelberg XL 106 6-color or K&B Rapida 106 7-color is preferred, but other makes will be considered. Understanding of color and the ability to pass a color test are required.
• Strong mechanical skills and aptitude. Ability to lift 10–15 pounds continuously and up to 50 pounds occasionally; stand for 12-hour shifts; use hands and wrists in repetitive motion; receive and follow instructions; and use vision to identify defects.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts with overtime and holidays as required (OT paid over 40 hours per week).

Preferred Qualifications

• Machine repair and maintenance experience.
