Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) in Pawcatuck, CT, is hiring a Maintenance Trades Helper- Laborer Sheet Metal Trainee to support the Sheet Metal Shop. You will assist in operating CNC machinery, deburring, and learning the precision sheet metal trade while building fundamental shop skills.

Ideal candidates have 0–2 years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of related experience
• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Technical or Vocational Training preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation of CNC Punch Press, Waterjet Cutting Center, and Press Brakes to fabricate sheet metal.
• Keep department supplied with materials and tools.
• Cut sheet and blanks for shop machinery using hydraulic shears and cutting tools.
• Break-out of parts off Punch Press and Omax Waterjet.
• Deliver parts to other departments and areas of facility.
