Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker to fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal components on aircraft carriers, submarines and surface ships. The role requires precise workmanship and adherence to technical documents.

You will start from the shipyards welding school training and join a versatile team handling ventilation systems, bulkheads, framing, cabinetry, and more, with formal and on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• Background investigation and drug screen required.
• Pass physical agility test.
• Able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb on a daily basis.
• Able to lift at least 40 pounds.
• Able to perform overhead work.
• Able to work at extreme heights.
• Able to perform outdoor work year-round in all weather conditions.
• Able to work in small, tight, confined spaces.
• Able to take measurements or be willing to learn.
• Willing to work in radiation areas with training and equipment.
• Must be clean shaven to wear a respirator.
• Able to work overtime as needed.
• Willing to work any shift.
