Job summary

Webster Combustion in Kansas is seeking a capable shop employee to set up and operate sheet metal machines for cutting, punching, forming, riveting and drilling according to templates, sketches or prints.

The role requires reading blueprints, using hand and power tools, maintaining a clean, safe work area, and performing routine maintenance with minimal supervision while meeting Webster Engineering quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Operate sheet metal machines for cutting, punching, forming, riveting and drilling per templates, sketches or prints.
• Set up and operation of machines for sheet metal parts.
• Learn to select tooling and set gauges.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and functional work area.
• Perform user maintenance on machines and equipment.
• Ensure work conforms to Webster Engineering quality standards.
• Work with minimum supervision.
• Follow safety rules and report any unsafe conditions.
• Learn to read and interpret blueprints to support production.

Job description

Responsibilities:

1. Must use hand tools such as gauging equipment, squares, rules, protractor and special wrenches and air tools, as needed.


2. Check machine setting periodically to ensure that parts being made are to specifications.


3. Checks department for compliance of all safety rules and standards and reports to the Sheet Metal Lead any condition out of his control.


4. Maintains a neat, clean, orderly and functional work area at all times.


5. Performs user maintenance on all machines and equipment.


6. Work must conform to Webster Engineering quality standards


7. Performs other related duties as required.


8. Will be required to perform assignments with a minimum of supervision and assistance in the job performance.


9. Learn to set up and operation of all types of machines for sheet metal cutting, punching, forming, riveting and drilling. Includes ability to set up for new parts from information on templates, sketches or prints.


10. Learn to select tooling, set gauges.

Requirements

• High School Diploma


• Able to read and understand blueprints,


• Able to use power tools such as hand grinders and drills, able to use small hand tools such as hammer, file, tape measure and other various measuring instruments.


• Able to learn to set up and operate power equipment and operate safely and accurately.


• Able to handle lifting equipment such as cranes and hand trucks.


• Ability to manually lift up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.


• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills


• Ability to work occasional overtime when required
