Job summary

B&I Contractors, Inc. in Florida is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Superintendent to lead and coordinate sheet metal installation teams on large-scale commercial projects.

You will interpret specifications, manage procurement, ensure safety, and apply Lean principles while mentoring foremen and journeymen. We offer in-house training, strong benefits including health insurance, vacation, ESOP, and a 401(k) with company match.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SMACNA, Florida Building and AHCA codes.
• Experience coordinating shop drawings from BIM and remodel projects.
• Ability to track labor and manage manpower efficiently.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program with journeyman experience preferred. OSHA30, CPR/1st Aid, and related safety certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the material and activities of Foremen, Journeymen and Apprentices for sheet metal installation.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, submittals and job orders as needed for the project.
• Assemble procurement orders for materials, equipment and tools required at project start.
• Establish work sequences to meet construction schedules and chargeline with crew capacity.
• Evaluate workers' abilities to ensure productive job placement and performance.
• Study schedules and estimate man-hour requirements for completion of jobs.
• Maintain time records and analyze work problems; participate in cost estimates when needed.
• Enforce safety regulations and HR policies; conduct performance appraisals.
• Apply Lean principles and processes where applicable.
