Job summary

Piper Aircraft, Inc. is seeking a Sheet Metal Subassembler I for the Tanks line on the 1st shift. You will assist the supervisor in producing high-quality aircraft parts and subassemblies per Piper drawings and PPS, supporting on-time production and efficient use of resources.

The role emphasizes drilling, riveting, assembly, sealant application, and compliance with QAM/QIM and FAA standards. Overtime may be required and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1 year of related Subassembler experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow drawings and specifications.
• Capable of lifting up to 35 lbs with or without assistance.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Drill out and rivet aircraft parts and subassemblies using hand tools.
• Assemble system parts with rivets, nuts, bolts and hardware.
• Apply sealants and corrosion preventive materials as required.
• Maintain Piper QAM/QIM and FAA compliance.
• Rework discrepancies and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Adhere to Safety, FOD, 5S, PPE and other policies.
• Collaborate with senior teammates for training and skill development.

Sheet Metal Subassembler I - Tanks - 1st Shift (Full Time)

Assists the Supervisor in the production of high-quality aircraft parts & subassemblies following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals.

Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks

Drill out and rivet aircraft parts and subassemblies, including those requiring use of small, portable assembly tools.

Assemble aircraft system parts and accessories using common fasteners such as rivets, nuts, bolts, washers and other hardware.

Apply sealants, adhesives, corrosion preventive materials and other compounds as necessary.

Maintain the departments compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.

Rework discrepancies as necessary.

Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve the teams performance including schedule delivery, reduction of late work, elimination of quality defects & scrap, increasing productivity and generating cost reductions.

Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.

Adhere and maintain all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.

Perform duties as assigned by supervision.

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Related Subassembler experience requirements:

• Subassembler I: 1 year of experience preferred
• Subassembler II: 2 - 3 years of experience preferred
• Subassembler III: 3 - 4 years of experience preferred
• Senior Subassembler: 5 years of experience preferred

Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Use of hand and power tools as required

Follow all safety procedures

Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).

Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions.

Physical Demands

Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below.
