Job summary

Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach, FL is seeking a Supervisor, Manufacturing for 1st shift to lead manufacturing of aircraft per PPS, follow schedules, promote teamwork, and train staff.

You will resolve issues, coordinate with Engineering, manage labor records, participate in safety programs, and ensure quality and cost targets are met; on-site position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 5+ years aircraft fabrication or sheet metal assembly.
  • Three years of management or lead experience preferred.

Job description

Supervisor, Manufacturing - 1st Shift (Full Time)

Department: All Openings, Manufacturing - Experienced

This is an On-Site Position.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager will direct employees in the manufacturing of high-quality aircraft following Piper Performance Specifications (PPS). Follow production schedules to ensure a timely and efficient output of aircraft. Resolve conflict as needed and follow policies and procedures as deemed appropriate for each situation. Promote and foster teamwork principles throughout departments.

Train employees to work from and follow: process specifications, work orders, travelers, station paperwork, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, schedules, Aircraft Production Orders, schematics, layout & modifications sheets, engineering orders, Piper Production Spec (PPS), Piper Material Spec (PMS), Material Review Board and verbal/written instruction.

Coordinate daily goals and activities with Lead persons.

Conduct training and cross training to employees within assigned departments.

Sign and route Employee Data Records (EDRs).

Address all personnel issues, which include, but are not limited to performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and leave requests with employees as necessary.

Assign and monitor production schedule and workflow.

Move employees to different job requirements depending on workload and abilities to perform job function.

Troubleshoot and re-work fit and/or function discrepancies (squawks) as necessary.

Determine when parts should be re-worked or scrapped, taking costs factors into consideration.

Act as liaison between department and Engineering to troubleshoot assembly or installation problems that arise.

Data entry of employee labor time and attendance into Company computer system.

Assist in resolving Company enterprise resource lanning (ERP) system problems.

Prepare weekly payroll documents.

Interface with Material Control departments regarding parts and materials to avoid parts shortages.

Promote and utilize continuous process improvement techniques to improve quality processes and costs, interfacing with Manufacturing Engineering department.

Prepare and analyze actions necessary to correct cost schedule and quality issues.

Coordinate installations or assemblies outside the department as required to work squawks.

Analyze, evaluate, and recommend resources necessary to accomplish present and future tasks and objectives.

Promote housekeeping chores throughout department to keep a presentable appearance of the Company.

Support safety programs and promote safety equipment usage, ensuring compliance of all safety policies.

Maintain all necessary records, files and reports.

Attend supervisor and management meetings.

Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), at least five years aircraft fabrication or sheet metal assembly experience, and three years management or lead person experience preferred.

Thorough knowledge of fundamentals of sheet metal and aircraft manufacturing, including metal cutting machines and processes such as: lathes, mills, brakes, shears, welding, and hand tools; and working knowledge of Windows based computers and programs, are necessary to perform the duties in this position.

Individual should have the ability to perform the duties of the job applying basic mathematics, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential in this position.
