Job summary

AOC Metal Works in Virginia is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to perform in-process and final inspections of sheet metal parts. You will verify dimensions, interpret drawings, and ensure conformance to ISO 9001 while maintaining accurate logs on shop-floor data.

This role emphasizes defect prevention, scrap reduction, and clear communication with production teams, with compensation including a shift differential. Previous QC in metal fabrication is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–4 years in quality control in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
• Familiarity with sheet metal processes and ISO 9001 standards.
• Strong ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency with calipers, protractor and tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail and teamwork.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a hot/cold warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections on laser-cut, formed, punched, and welded sheet metal parts.
• Use precision tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Identify defects and report nonconformances to prevent shipments.
• Maintain inspection logs, calibration records, and quality metrics.
• Communicate quality issues with Shift Lead and QA team.
• Assist with other duties and projects as required.
• Follow all PPE and safety procedures.
