Job summary

ColonialWebb Contractors Company is seeking a Sheet Metal Mechanic to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair ductwork, plenums, and related HVAC components on construction projects in Richmond, VA. The role reports to the Foreman or Assistant Superintendent and emphasizes safety and quality craftsmanship.

Applicants should have at least four years of industry experience and knowledge of IMC/SMACNA standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of four years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of IMC, SMACNA and general HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and understand project related documents in English.
  • Basic math skills and measurement accuracy.
  • Ability to direct crews to install work safely with quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate with teammates in other trades.

Responsibilities

  • Follow directions from project supervision.
  • Lay out openings and coordinate with other trades.
  • Fabricate duct onsite and install joints.
  • Erect and install equipment such as air handling units and VAV boxes.
  • Coach apprentices to work safely and productively.
  • Perform material handling as necessary.

Sheet Metal Mechanic - ConstructionThe primary responsibility of the Sheet Metal Mechanic is to fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment such as ductwork, plenums, fire dampers, and diffusers.
