Job summary

The City of Saint Paul is seeking a qualified sheet metal worker to perform on-site inspections and ensure compliance with approved materials and workmanship across residential and commercial properties.

Responsibilities include witnessing tests, enforcing corrections, and interpreting codes for a variety of situations. This position requires on-site presence in Saint Paul, MN, with a Monday–Friday schedule and field duties throughout the city.

Qualifications

• High School or Vocational School Diploma and possession of an official certificate evidencing the completion of an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License.

Information Specific to this Position:

The current vacancy is based in the Department of Safety and Inspections Office, 375 Jackson Street, Saint Paul, MN 55101. This position works Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm and conducts daily field inspections for residential and commercial properties located across the City of Saint Paul and is required to be on site every day.

High School or Vocational School Diploma and possession of an official certificate evidencing the completion of an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker, such as is issued by the State of Minnesota, and five years of experience as a journey-level sheet metal worker.

OR

High School or Vocational School Diploma and eleven years of experience in sheet metal work, at least seven years of which must have been as a journey-level sheet metal worker.

Must possess a Certificate of Competency issued by the City of Saint Paul or the City of Minneapolis as a journey-or master-level warm air and ventilation worker.

Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
