Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in architectural sheet metal fabrication or commercial roofing installation.
• 2-3 years in a lead or supervisory position.
• Experience on projects valued at $250,000+.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule field installation crews on commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal projects, ensuring coordination and timely completion across job sites.
• Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals to plan daily field layout and installation sequences.
• Inspect metalwork for weather-tightness and proper expansion/contraction allowances; ensure high aesthetic standards.
• Conduct daily safety briefings, enforce OSHA guidelines, and ensure proper use of fall protection and PPE.
• Coordinate material deliveries, track site inventory, and manage equipment utilization with project managers.
• Train and mentor apprentices and junior mechanics in architectural metal best practices.

Grove Roofing Services, a respected commercial roofing contractor serving the Buffalo, New York region, seeks an experienced Sheet Metal Foreman to lead field operations and serve as the on-site point person across large-scale commercial architectural roofing and sheet metal projects.

Compensation & Benefits

This is an hourly union position with a compensation rate of $51.31/hour. Benefits include:

Position Responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule field installation crews on commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal projects, ensuring coordination and timely completion across job sites
• Read and interpret complex architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals to plan daily field layout and installation sequences
• Inspect completed and in-progress metalwork to verify weather-tightness, proper expansion and contraction allowances, and adherence to high aesthetic standards
• Conduct daily safety briefings, enforce OSHA guidelines, and ensure proper use of fall protection and personal protective equipment during elevated work
• Coordinate material deliveries, track site inventory, and manage equipment utilization including lifts, brakes, and shears in collaboration with project managers
• Train and mentor apprentices and junior mechanics in architectural metal best practices, field measuring techniques, and tool safety protocols

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in architectural sheet metal fabrication or commercial roofing installation with at least 2-3 years in a lead or supervisory position
• Experience leading or contributing to commercial roofing projects valued at $250,000+
• Proven leadership capability with experience managing crews in a commercial construction environment
• Capacity to work safely at heights and on elevated surfaces
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour certification preferred
