Job summary

Synectics Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented estimator to prepare full estimates for large HVAC projects. The role emphasizes accurate material and labor takeoffs, cost analysis, and bid preparation in a collaborative office setting.

You will read blueprints, analyze specifications, and coordinate with subcontractors to develop competitive bids for industrial and commercial facilities. This position supports ongoing project opportunities with a focus on precision and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, or sheet metal estimating.
• Experience estimating large-scale industrial and commercial HVAC projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sheet metal, ductwork, materials, and installation requirements.
• Ability to perform accurate material and labor takeoffs and prepare detailed project estimates.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project scopes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or coordinate full estimates on large, complex projects.
• Develop conceptual and total bid price per client's documents.
• Maintain accurate bid quotations and estimates.
• Build relationships with subcontractors and vendors for cost feedback.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure bid readiness.

Primary Purpose

Responsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client's documents and providing complete conceptual and total bid price.

Work Arrangement

Office-based Monday-Thursday; Remote Friday

Required Skills

• 2+ years of experience in HVAC, mechanical, or sheet metal estimating.
• Experience estimating large-scale industrial and commercial HVAC/mechanical projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, sheet metal, ductwork, materials, and installation requirements.
• Ability to perform accurate material and labor takeoffs and prepare detailed project estimates.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, construction documents, and project scopes.
• Strong understanding of project costs, labor, materials, subcontractor pricing, and bid preparation.
• Experience with QuickPen or similar estimating software is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as bid front ends, scopes of work, blueprints, safety programs, QA/QC manuals
• Junior/mid-level is preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in an office-based environment Monday through Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays.
