Job summary

Worth & Company is seeking a detailer to read and interpret construction drawings to prepare accurate, detailed shop drawings for HVAC pre-fabrication and installation. You will utilize AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks and Revit to support manufacturing and field installation.

With 4+ years in sheet metal detailing, you will work on BIM coordination, line-by-line reviews of drawings, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4+ years of field experience in sheet metal detailing.
  • Knowledge of BIM coordination and drawing/modelling for buildings.
  • Excellent knowledge of blueprint reading and drafting standards.
  • Formal education or hands-on experience with Autodesk software systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify and release shop drawings for HVAC pre-fabrication and installation using AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks and Revit.
  • Review project drawings, specifications and Worth & Co. standards prior to issuing shop drawings.
  • Self-check work for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with standards and manufacturing needs.
  • Coordinate with Master Planners, superintendents, VDC and Construction Services teams to provide value engineering and ensure drawing clarity.
  • Contribute to design review process and propose improvements for efficiency.
  • Field surveys for renovation work and fabrication scheduling to meet deadlines.

The detailer is responsible to read and interpret construction drawings to prepare accurate, detailed and compliant shop drawings for HVAC pre-fabrication and installation from data supplied by field surveys, mechanical engineered drawings, etc. utilizing a range of Auto Desk software applications including but not limited to AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks and Revit.

Reports to: VDC Lead

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work with AutoCAD MEP and Revit systems creating, modifying and releasing shop drawings for issue to manufacturing and installation
  • Review project drawings, specifications and Worth & Co. Standards and apply/incorporate prior to issue of shop drawings for manufacturing and installation
  • Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, conformance with standards, fits and manufacturing
  • Work closely with Master Planners, superintendents, VDC and Construction Services teams to provide value engineering and ensure drawing clarity
  • Responsible for some design elements for field installation
  • Field surveys as required for renovation work
  • Work with minimal supervision and must be self-motivated, organized and detail oriented.
  • Report to Team lead on status/progress of work, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments
  • Must formulate RFI’s in a clear and concise manner

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of field experience in sheet metal installation. Supervisory role a plus or a minimum of 4 years of sheet metal detailing.
  • A qualifying degree from a recognized Revit training facility is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical piping systems is desired but not essential
  • Knowledge of structural steel and construction as applies to drawing and modelling a building with an emphasis on BIM coordination
  • Able to manage workload under own initiative and maintain project and fabrication schedules in a fast paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • Able to contribute to design review process and offer value engineering solutions and improve job efficiencies
  • Computer literacy with the company’s software systems including Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD MEP, Fabrication MEP, Naviate, Stratus, Navisworks, etc.
  • Formal education/training or relevant hands‑on experience with Autodesk software systems desired but not essential
  • Excellent knowledge of blueprint reading
  • Excellent knowledge of drafting standards
  • This is a full-time, on-site position. Employees in this role are expected to work Monday through Friday at our office.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
