Job summary

The Carpenter fabricates, assembles, fits, and installs structural and light-gauge steel components for modular mechanical and electrical systems. This on-site role requires reading drawings, accurate layouts, and precise fabrication to meet project specs and schedules.

Initial 90-day on-site training occurs at the Tuscaloosa, AL facility with a $500 per week per diem; after training, duties transfer to the Oxford, AL site for ongoing, on-site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; related skilled trade experience considered.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, shop drawings, and blueprints.
• Strong layout, squaring, leveling, alignment and fitting skills.
• Experience with steel framing, metal studs, Unistrut, angle iron, and tubing is a plus.
• Proven accuracy in measurement and workmanship with attention to safety.
• Welding or tack-welding experience is a plus; willingness to train.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble steel components for modular systems.
• Read drawings, lay out, cut, drill, and assemble to spec.
• Construct frames, supports, platforms, racks, and enclosures.
• Perform basic fitting prior to welding or final assembly.
• Follow fabrication sequences and production requirements.
• Inspect work, report defects, and maintain quality standards.
• Coordinate with welders, sheet metal, and production teams.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
