Job: QA/QC Inspector

Reports to: Quality Manager

Job Summary

The QA/QC Inspector performs in-process and final inspections of fabricated, welded, structural, and piping assemblies. This position ensures work complies with applicable codes, approved drawings, customer specifications, project requirements, internal procedures, and Epsilon Industries’ Quality Management System (“QMS”).

The QA/QC Inspector works closely with Production, Welding, Engineering, Project Management, and Quality personnel to identify and resolve quality concerns, maintain accurate inspection records, and promote continuous improvement.

This is a fully on-site position. The employee will complete a minimum 90-day on-site training period at Epsilon Industries’ Tuscaloosa, Alabama facility and will receive a per diem of $500 per week during the training period. Upon completion of training, the position will transfer to and remain fully on-site at Epsilon Industries’ Oxford, Alabama facility.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, hold-point, and final inspections.
• Inspect structural steel, piping, mechanical assemblies, welded components, materials, and workmanship.
• Verify compliance with current approved drawings, specifications, AWS D1.1, applicable ASME requirements, and customer/project requirements.
• Inspect weld fit-up, joint preparation, alignment, dimensions, tolerances, and completed welds.
• Verify material identification, certifications, and traceability.
• Verify required inspections, pressure tests, NDT, and other testing activities where applicable.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, piping isometrics, weld symbols, weld maps, and fabrication details.
• Perform and document inspections electronically using company-issued tablets and approved inspection software.
• Record inspection results, measurements, photographs, deficiencies, and supporting documentation at the time of inspection.
• Maintain complete and accurate electronic inspection records to support traceability, NCRs, quality reporting, and project turnover.
• Identify and document nonconforming conditions and initiate or support Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
• Verify completed repairs, rework, and approved dispositions where assigned.
• Participate in root cause and Corrective Action activities when required.
• Support customer, third-party, and internal audits and inspections.
• Support implementation and continual improvement of the Epsilon QMS at the Oxford facility.
• Work directly with Production and Engineering to resolve quality concerns while maintaining inspection independence and objectivity.
• Communicate significant quality or compliance concerns to the Quality & Process Manager.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous QA/QC inspection experience in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or a related environment.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, piping isometrics, weld symbols, and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of welding, weld fit-up, visual inspection, and common weld discontinuities.
• Experience using dimensional measuring and inspection equipment.Understanding of material identification, traceability, and inspection documentation.
• Basic computer and tablet skills with the ability to learn and use Epsilon’s QMS, ERP, electronic inspection, and document-management systems.
• Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• ASNT Level II certification or NDT training in VT, MT, PT, or UT.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1 and applicable ASME piping requirements.
• Structural steel, piping, mechanical, or modular fabrication experience.
• NCR and Corrective Action experience.
• Experience with material traceability and project turnover documentation.
• Experience supporting customer or third-party inspections.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001-based Quality Management System.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school, trade-school, welding, fabrication, or quality-control training preferred.
• Experience inspecting fabricated and welded products in a manufacturing, fabrication, or construction environment required.
• Hands-on experience applying AWS D1.1 requirements.
• Working knowledge of applicable ASME piping codes.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and relevant experience may be considered.

Technical Qualifications
