Job summary

Comprehensive Energy Services, Inc. is seeking a Commercial Sheet Metal Apprentice/Helper in Gainesville, FL. The role supports Sheet Metal Mechanics in fabricating ductwork and related assemblies, using hand tools and fabrication equipment.

The position offers full-time employment with benefits and opportunities to learn on-the-job, focusing on safety, accuracy, and hands-on skill development in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications

• One to three months of commercial sheet metal shop experience and/or training or equivalent education/experience.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Knowledge of safety equipment and proper usage.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Able to climb and balance on ladders and stand/sit for long periods.
• Must have valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist Sheet Metal Mechanic with fabricating assemblies and systems in workshop using hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
• Assist inspecting assemblies for conformance with plans and standards using measurement tools.
• Inventory stocked materials and consumables.
• Cut materials for fabrication using chop saw and tape measure.
• Help operate soldering and welding equipment and fabrication machines.
• Fabricate metal duct and accessories, including fiberglass duct and fittings.
• Measure, size, cut, and apply duct insulation.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Assisting Sheet Metal Mechanic in the fabricating assemblies and systems in the workshop according to work provided by the Shop foreman using hand tools, portable power tools and other specialized equipment
• Assist inspecting assemblies and installation work for conformance with plans, specifications, and trade standards, using naked eye as well as measuring instruments ,such as measuring tape ,rule, plumb bob or level
• Assist sheet metal shop mechanic with routine fabrication with direct oversight and on-site assistance
• Assist sheet metal shop mechanic with operation of fabrication equipment such as coil-line, plasma table, breaks, drive machines, and other fabrication equipment.
• Take inventory of stocked materials and consumables such as sheet metal, conduits, connectors and damper assemblies.
• Cut materials for fabrication using a chop saw and tape measure.
• Help setup/operate soldering and welding equipment, fabricating machines,
• Fabricate metal duct and accessories.
• Cut and fabricate fiberglass duct and fittings
• Measure ,size ,cut and apply duct insulation
• Accept and perform other work as assigned

Qualifications, Skills, And Abilities

• The qualified candidate will have one to three months of commercial sheet metal shop experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication skills and able to follow instructions
• Knowledge of the proper use of safety equipment
• Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must be able to climb and balance on ladders, stand/ or sit for long periods at a time, must not have fear of heights, among others
• Valid Florida driver's license
